    Seriously why even bother?

  • AmyCurtis

So are we going to have an Yank playing Sherlock as well?

    • CGren123

You mean like Robert Downey Jr?

      • AmyCurtis

Yeah but at least he’s pretending to be British. This will be probably have a USA setting with an American speaking Sherlock.

    This is gonna suck!

  • What. SHERLOCK WAS BORN BRITISH IT IS PART OF BRITISH HISTORY!!! EVERYONW KNOWS WHAT SHERLOCK IS! Key word: BRITISH.
Moffat is right to be angry

  • Anonymous

Pray that it gets canceled because everyone who’d watch it is too busy rewatching the good version.

  • Marlena

    hope this fails -_-

A modern-day version of Sherlock Holmes is already on US TV: House.

    • AmyCurtis

That’s not officially Sherlock Holmes though.

    • Jackiesalwa

It stars a British actor: Hugh Laurie and it isn’t technically Sherlock

  • Tdm2895

Stuped USA they all ways take our ideas for a tv show

  • Tdm2895

It’s all ready been done puls are one going air in the USA any way it just going to be massive flop

  • Pdurston

You know, they seem to americanise every damn thing that comes into existence in todays world! Ranging from the Office, Life on Mars, Torchwood etc, and this! God blimey, none of these can never be reproduced to such a great standard as their predeccesor. Leave them alone damn it! Their strictly British made shows, and then american networks seems to catch on, and result…a massive flop. They have a habit of reproducing the carbon copy shows into cheap versions. An American based Sherlock Holmes doesn’t cut the mould I’m afraid. That mould was cut by the dramatisations that were produced by us! IMO, Moffat’s work on Sherlock is the best so far. Nothing can ever outshine it, not even an American copy!

Leave our once humble shows alone, stop copying concepts that have been done before, and actually start inventing something that is strictly yours! I can’t even imagine a show that we’ve nicked from your networks?

Well, what’s done is done with taking Sherlock, but you can never take Doctor Who from us. never…that’s padlocked I’m afriad.

(Don’t worry, I’m not slating the american people in general, I’m just showing frustration at the big chesses of these american networks that can’t come up with anything decent without axing it).

    • I agree with every word of that.

      • I can’t wait for them to try to copy Doctor Who actually – the whole British nation would probably rise up against them! I would fight tooth and nail to keep my Doctor. The best bit is, even most Americans seem to be upset about Americanisations of British shows and would rather watch the original!

        • I would rise up….and I’m American!

Stephen Moffat will appear at the door of the guy who thought of the US Doctor Who idea, with everybody who’s ever acted and worked on the show before.
          “NO.”
Then they kidnap him, lock him in a TARDIS prop, and throw it into the Atlantic.
“Reboot your way out of this!”

and primeval as well come on

  • Sang Meiyun

Regarless, of a USA Sherlock or not. BBC Sherlock will always be the best.

  • What’s wrong with USA recently. Suddenly they want all of our shows. They’ve remade our Shameless, and their planning to redo their own versions of Gavin and Stacey, Being Human, the Inbetweeners, plus other stuff. I don’t mind them airing the original versions over in America like we do with their shows, but there’s no reason for them to remake them. It ruins them. They just want to make money from our franchises.

    • Anonymous

the channel runners are idiots who cant think of anything new but dont say the USA its the show runners

  • Anonymous

Well at least this is a blatant copy and wasn’t sold to them like primeval or half of torchwood (although they did a good job on torchwood, thanks to the bbc coproduction). If anybody in the media in their right mind sees this, i believe they should and will tear those idea-leeching  Tv Yanks to shreds (through the written medium, of course). Actually, comparing those individuals (NOT people) to leeches is an insult to leeches. They must even be a disgrace to the american people. Someone stop them. And the other  TV americans taking UK shows.
PS: Doctor, if you’re reading this, please reunite your army and put this right. Dont tell me you wont defend something we (and you I hope) love. Go to war now! and no rules. Our adversaries obviously, to quote the Ood, “don’t understand the concept” (of rules). Save our shows. Now

  • Lizzie

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! God no, not USA! No offence but our version is better! We have Benedict and Martin so ha! Their version will be rubbish!!

    • Anon

I like this and I’m American.

      • Anonymous

yes but you have to admit your the origanal versions of our shows are better tha the US version you guys make and they got the idea from us

  • Pdurston

Even Sherlocks’ expression in that screenshot is of extreme distaste of the idea

  • American Sherlock is the film with Robert Downey Jr and Judy Law not the series !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • legodarknight101

Jesus Christ, can’t theym leave ANYTHING alone! And for those of you out there shouting “What about the Sherlock Holmes movie?!” That my friends is a 90% British production, the director’s British and a good 95% of the cast is British so it works.

this is like taking doctor who
a thing that is made and a big thing  of Britain culture
a man who is different to anyone else with a companion
so if they do this then whats stopping them from taking doctor who
and also another thing in common they will always fail if they are not British who agrees

  • Mdrescher

I have an idea! Stop whining and be open minded. Maybe it’ll be good, maybe it’ll suck. You don’t know. Hell, maybe it will get so reworked that it will be a different show entirely.

Oh, and we Americans already have a US version of Sherlock, its called The Mentalist.

I like all those bbc shows, but I see no point in crying over a possible remake that might not really happen. It could get to pilot like Rex is Not Your Lawyer and not be picked up.

lol Don’t worry, the American Sherlockians are very aware that America ruins everything. We are all ashamed and embarrassed for CBS. HOWEVER, I’m going to watch three episodes with an open mind, after that, there is no mercy.

UGH!!!  Next think ya know, they are going to try and do an updated Merlin.  I’ve never even watched our US version of Life On Mars because the UK version was great.  The only problem I have with UK shows – They don’t get to US markets fast enough.  I want to see the new season of Merlin or the last 2 seasons of Lark Rise To Candleford.

  • We Americans like to think we’re so original. Advertise Torchwood as an original new series, then this?
    I’m ashamed.

    • Really man? Grouping American culture with money-eating TV execs. Also, just think about that phrase “We Americans like to think we’re so original…” makes my brain hurt ><

  • J

As long as UK Sherlock continues unhindered, I don’t mind this so much. Yes, I’m miffed that they shamelessly stole an idea without consultation or credit… On the other hand, more Sherlock is probably a good thing, right? I do hope they pull it off to the same standard as the current Sherlock. So good luck to them; they’ll need it. ;)

  • Anonymous

So what? The concept of updating the detective’s chronicles is original in itself? Please, Moff. For your own good — turn the ego dial down to 5. It’s not the idea, it’s the writing.

  • Anonymous

The UK Sherlock is awesome.  Chances are the US version will be crappier, suffer from poor ratings and be cancelled within 2 seasons because it will be beat out by other shows.

    • Anonymous

      2 seasons?
It probably won’t even make it through the first!

      • alex_494

I can see them condensing episodes down to 30 minutes and doing a reeeally long series. And it will suck.

  • The US can only mess it up they hate intelligent viewing

  • We’ll have to wait and see.

  • I’m American and I agree that U.S. television standards are way lower than the U.K.’s I seriously doubt that this blatant rip-off can survive alongside of Moffat’s fabulous reinvention of Holmes. It will doubtlessly crash and burn, and hopefully “Sherlock” will be uninjured by this atrocity’s existence. I have no doubts that Moffat’s version will remain as brilliant and entertaining as ever.

  • alex_494

Why oh why can they not be content with just showing our Sherlock on US TV? Why must they act like money-grabbing vultures?

  • scscanlan2004

It’s nothing like that, Sherlock has been redone to death by plenty of people from all sorts of nations. I LOVE the BBC Sherlock and I adore Dr. Who but reinventing Sherlock Holmes is nothing new… not even close. In fact I believe I have a book around here with many stories about Holmes from various authors, including Stephen King.
