No Abby or Connor in Primeval Series 6?

It’s not just Primeval’s future that remains uncertain – two of longest serving characters may not return for a sixth series.

In an interview with Digital Spy back in May, Andrew-Lee Potts (Connor) and Hannah Spearritt (Abby) were unsure about whether they would come back.

Have you heard anything about a potential sixth series?
Andrew: “We’ve heard nothing at all, but we never do until they need to contact us! I know that [production company] Impossible Pictures definitely want to keep Primeval alive in one way or another. I think that people thought, ‘If it does come back, it has to come back strong’ and I think we did. If you consider how many cast members have changed, and also our shift to [filming in] Dublin, and the new ARC, and all the other changes in the show, I think we’ve done quite well, and established ourselves as a regenerated show. We kind of had to do that, because of the year off [between series three and four]. It definitely evolved. Primeval deserves to carry on, and I hope it does. As for mine and Hannah’s involvement in that, we’re not entirely sure.”

So would you be interested in coming back for another series?
Hannah: “That’s it, we’re not entirely sure.”
Andrew: “But we will say that Primeval is super-close to our hearts, and it always will be.”
Hannah: “We’ve got a massive soft spot for Primeval. It’s given us a lot.”

If its close to their hearts then surely if they were offered to return they would accept? And if theyre NOT in the next series would they be best pleased?

I’m not too worried about it personally, I kinda think they just didn’t want to give away any spoilers about what would happen to Connor and Abby in series 5. I saw a more recent interview with them where they said the show could go anywhere and they’d never get bored of making it. Also I don’t think they’d pass up the opportunity to keep working together. They’re the best characters in the show and I’m sure the producers know if they left the show, viewing figure would plummet. Here’s hoping for a series 6 WITH Connor and Abby (and Danny and Jenny!).

I think they’ve left it on a cliff hanger so that it can make it easier to come back if it does because they have the start of a storyline, but also it could just be so you sort of take the next step in thinking whats going to happen so you can sort of continue the story yourself. :)

Season 5 wasn’t left on a Cliff-hanger. The producers of Primeval left it open-ended for the possible continuous of season 6.

that was definitely a cliffhanger, you don’t find matt seeing a future version of himself telling him he has to go back, and then matt realising he has done something wrong, sorry man but this was definitely a cliffhanger.

hannah and andrew your the glue that sticks primeval together you cant go no one can replace u. to me and kayla it realy wouldnt be primeval with you. we watched series 5 on WATCH and we thught it was realy realy realy good. it wouldnt be the same without conner and the silly things he does like in the sub-merine one he bashes his head on a the pipe witch look painful but it got us laughting. if u go evryone will miss u not just me and kayla. and u know we would probely cry for hours if u went. plz stay. all we can realy say is that we love primeval to the bottem of our hearts and it realy wouldnt be the same u have to stay. were looking forward to seeing ALL of u in series 6. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I absolutely LOVE primeval, there has to be a series 6.
But more importantly Andrew, Hannah, you HAVE to be in it! It seriously won’t be right without you both in it. You two are the best! by far! No-one will can replace you, your just fab, i can’t explain how gutting it would be if you weren’t in it.
Besides, what about Rex, Sid and Nancy :) They need their mum and dad :P and Hannah you need to get the Dracorex back to its correct time. And of course you need to get married :P

I almost quit watching the show when Cutter and Steven were killed off, they were my favorite two characters, until I grew into the knew cast and crew. Depending on Henshall, new changes and a few set backs are very much needed. I love to write, trying to get a story/game/movie/series out which I am calling Knights of the Nine, harder than one would think!!! Primeval has given me new ambition for writing and for that I thank all involved.

If they do cut Connor and Abby out of the series, then Primeval will not be successful because there would only be one original character left, Lestier, but he isnt always in it as much so ratings would definatley go down.

If they’re not in the next series, it would be like Harry Potter series without Harry Potter. I mean… they really are the main characters of the show and the soul of it. I would make it 1 episode without them, but 1 season? No way!

Primeval will be just another Scifi show if Abby and Connor don’t come back. They are the heart! Connor has matured from a slightly silly college boy into a very impressive hero-type man. And Abby has developed into a deeper more complex character. Their relationship is inspiring. My husband wants the Primeval writers to figure out a way to bring Cutter back and restore some of the “wonder” of it all that has been lost since the military intervention. Whatever, I just hope to see Series 6 of Primeval soon. I’ve already memorized all the lines from Series 1 through 5. lol

We are addicted to Primeval, we love it and all the people that have been and gone and are still there. We love Abby and Connor they make it more and real it just would not be the same without them. I dont know how I will be able to last until the next series.

Abby and Connor are not in Series 6 but they mayb be in Series 7 if that is confirmed.Series 6 has just been confirmed and will have a new cast and air Autumn 2012 on ITV.It may air at 9pm instead of 7pm.It will start filming this winter and will be darker,scarier and more canadian.Canada has took over the show but we still have a full 13 epiosde series which is titled either Primeval:New World or New Order and Series 7 could air as soon as Spring 2013 and star Connor!!!

It’s not series 6, it’s going in a totally different direction, it’s a spin-off, basically showing that the anomalies aren’t just in the U.K, there elsewhere to, it won’t feature any of the same cast, there is no Season 7 to be confirmed either. Only Primeval: New Order is happening

I Really hope a sixth season is made BUT! if Hannah and Andrew wont be appearing in this series i dont really think i would watch it. Honestly the very first season caught me, i fell in love with the show. Ive always been interested in dinosaurs and animals. and this show was just too entertaining!

Abi and Connor were the main reasons why i watched the show! because Connor was a person i could really relate to. and the story between both him and Abi was something i loved.

This show could easily carry on!
and i really hope it does! because ive taken away something from it.

Primeval producers should take into consideration that MANY of their audience wouldn’t watch series 6 without Abi and Connor. They ARE Primeval! I’m 16 years old and have watched the show religiously since the beginning. I think, with a little more promotion, series 6 would be really successful! I tell everyone I know to watch it when it airs.. But ONLY with Abi and Connor. (and Becker!!!) I love their relationship together, I was almost screaming when they finally kissed.
Primeval has been my favourite tv show for years, everything about it is fascinating. I really hope another series is created, it’s truly unique and irreplacable.

So many brilliant characters have left the show; Cutter, Danny, Stephen, Caroline/Jenny, Sarah… PLEASE don’t take away any more.

I agree with LittleGem, I would personally find it hard to watch the show without Connor or Abby. They, along with Lester, are the only characters that have always been there. There was not a single episode from the beginning that they were not in. Some shows need sme characters that stay with it. When I think of Andrew-Lee Potts and Hannah Spearritt, I think of Primeval. I think that since the love between them is actually real, they have a unique bond on the show. It makes it seem so much real. I hope that Connor and Abby and even Lester will be in series 6.
