Prefer Sherlock Myself, but will give series 2 a chance.

I hope they put the setting to good use. I’ve not been all too impressed by Series 1, but the prospect of Series 2 being set in London is interesting, as long as it doesn’t turn out to be permanent.

One thing you can’t claim elementary of is trying to copy Sherlock. It’s its own show, and got some wonderful actors and writers on the team. I was thoroughly impressed by Series 1, and this sounds wonderful.

    • Oswaldo42

Fair enough, although the producers of Elementary did request from BBC permission to make an American modern Sherlock Holmes series despite how different it has actually turned out to be.

Funnily enough, this permission was refused. When production continued, the BBC decided not to sue because they thought that Elementary wouldn’t last and it was therefore useless. Oops.

Admittedly, I could believe that Elementary was even feebly trying to be its on show in series 1. But frankly, with this new revelation, that argument really just doesn’t stand up. If it was really its own show it would set itself in America full time, because as Oswaldo points out, the basis of this show was a remake of Sherlock, and a bad one at that!

I don’t believe so – it’s simply telling a different version of Sherlock; they’ve already established Holmes as a dirty past in London, why not visit? It’ll give a fresh new vive to the show for its return.

They did, however copy the idea to modernize Sherlock Holmes.

  • Internal_Dalek

First they ruin the idea of Sherlock, then they come to where Sherlock was born to film. How dare they.

Well I prefer Sherlock Elementary isn’t all that bad to watch. And truthfully I think it’s a great idea to moive at least part of the show to London. But only for aa few episodes.

It’s actually amazing no single American network has copied Doctor Who. That would be like a gun wielding Doctor who just loves to kill and make love with his companions. Every single episode of the 25 that fill a season.
