Really hope this movie lives up to expectations, not entirely convinced as far, but we will see.

I sincerely hope it completely defies my expectations, because all the information that’s been released about it- the teasers, the costumes, the press releases- make it look like the most doomed project in existence. I desperately want this movie to be good, but I have no reason so far to hope that it will be.

I feel the same, for me, the Batman trilogy was Batman’s finest hour, and I’m going to have been really really amazed for that fact to change, either way, I feel like this may have been the wrong direction for DC.

  • Deus Ex Machina

That first image sort of puts Wonder Woman’s boobs first, and Batman and Superman second. Hopefully that’s not setting the tone for the actual film.

    • The Exploding TARDIS

No, it places Wonder Woman in the middle of two clashing superheroes, her boobs have nothing to do with it.

      • Deus Ex Machina

Sorry if that sounded a little sexist. It’s just the pose she’s standing in with her arms back and her chest stuck out does emphasise that whole region a little too much for my taste. And it almost looks as if it was intentional. Maybe it’s just me.

    • Christoph The Sky Sorcerer

Honestly I’m worried about the exact opposite: Wonder Woman is so tacked onto the film that I’m worried she’ll get barely any screen time in the movie at all. This is one of the many, many things DC is doing wrong with this movie: Marvel gave all the Avengers either their own films or at the very least appearances in other films before throwing them all into the big crossover movie. But here, in addition to the ultra-pretentious main story, we have to deal with them trying to set up all the other members of the Justice League.

Slightly disappointed at how Frank Miller inspired the Batman approach is, because apart from The Dark Knight Returns, Miller is a terrible Batman writer and the entirely wrong inspiration for a cinematic Batman. There were rumours a few years ago that the Batman in DC’s Cinematic Universe was going to be heavily inspired by the Arkham game series (and indeed the first Batman movie in the universe was going to be an adaptation of Arkham Asylum). It’s a shame this didn’t come to pass as the Arkham Universe is a perfect adaptation of Batman and a natural fit for the DC Cinematic Universe (very grounded in reality, but still has supernatural elements like Lazarus Pits).

    • Christoph The Sky Sorcerer

Agreed, especially since the Arkham games are perhaps the only definitely good superhero ANYTHING other than comics that DC has produced in years. (The Dark Knight trilogy was good, but it also wasn’t much of a superhero series; those movies were much more like police thrillers where the main character just happened to like dressing up as a bat.)

      • The Fabulous Administrator

The thought of an Arkham Asylum adaptation with Affleck’s Batman, Leto’s Joker and Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be fantastic. Sadly it’s probably never going to happen. But if the rumours of Ben Affleck directing the first standalone Batman movie in this universe are true, he might try and make changes hopefully bringing the character away from the Frank Miller approach. I don’t think cinema audiences are quite ready for the complete mischaracterisation of Batman that was All Star Batman And Robin on the big screen just yet. If that and The Dark Knight Strikes Back didn’t prove that Miller lost whatever understanding he had of Batman’s character in Year One and The Dark Knight Returns I don’t know what will.

And the less said of Miller’s interpretation of Catwoman the better.

Not quite sure what to make of this film. One the one hand, I’m interested to see what directions they’ll take the characters in, and how they set up the whole cinematic universe. The main selling point for me is Batman, who is without doubt one of the greatest superheroes ever, and I’m curious to see what position he’s in in this. Its no lie that I’m not keen on Superman, so obviously I want Bats to pummel him into the ground, because he’s too overpowered and godlike. The addition of Wonder Woman could be good, and I’m looking forward to seeing her in action. Overall, I’m just a bit unsure of the whole thing… :/

  • Christoph The Sky Sorcerer

I dunno, these pictures aren’t doing anything for me. Barring some radical new announcement, this doesn’t seem like it’s going to be my kind of movie at all. It looks like it’s going to be just Man Of Steel, but more so.

  • Is that Foggy Nelson or Lex Luthor, I can’t tell
