If I know “Arrow”, we’ve seen nothing yet. Things are just going to keep escalating all year long until finally all hell breaks loose. Then comes the really fun part of watching Oliver and the team put everything back together.

I hope you’re right. I’ve found Arrow disappointing this year so far, especially after Season 2. It was so fast paced and you had an awesome villain in Slade/Deathstroke that was built up each week in both the stories and flashbacks.

So far S3 feels like it’s treading water with standalone stories I’m not really invested in. The flashbacks have also been disappointing.

Ep 4 was the exception (and I’ve watched up to episode 7) because obviously it gave us a peek at the League of Assassins and Ra’s al Ghul.

I suspect the writing team were more invested in Flash which I think has been stronger.

I’m only four episodes in myself. I agree that it probably is a little slower moving than the last season, and the Hong Kong flashbacks can’t hold a candle to the island ones from previous years, but stories are usually fairly self contained to begin with. It’s not usually until the mid-season finale that things really start to gain momentum. But yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re spending more time building “Flash” up on it’s first season, but it makes sense I guess as it’s a new show and needs an extra kick to get it started. Once it finds its legs (which it’s doing pretty quickly), I’m sure the writers will spend some more time developing “Arrow”.

  • Great review – definitely my favourite of the year so far (watching on UK pace). The Ra’s reveal underwhelmed me a tad, but I’m sure there’s room to make him look a little more of a threat later on this season. Great to see Barrowman back though, doing what Barrowman does best.
